Allan Gray Scholarship for South Africans – The Allan Gray Orbis Scholarship programme aims to provide funding for students to study at the university level, as well as providing support and development for those who demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset.
The Allan Gray Foundation was founded by Allan Gray in 2005 out of his dream to create a sustainable contribution to the country, by helping students who are the future entrepreneurs of South Africa.
The foundation receives its funding from the donation of Allan Gray limited’s taxed profits.

Allan Gray Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
Grade 12 (Matric Student)
- Level 5 in pure mathematics for grade 11 final results
- Level 6 average for your final grade 11 results (excluding life orientation)
- Completion of the National Benchmark Test by 30 October 2021
- Applicants must be under the age of 21 in the year of their application
- South African citizenship
- Intention to study towards a Commerce, Science, Engineering, Law, Humanities or Health Science (excluding Medicine, Veterinary Science and Dentistry)
1st Year University
- Minimum average of 65% for your 2021 mid year exam results
- Intention to study the fields mentioned above.
- Applicants must be under the age of 22 in the year of their application
- South African citizenship
2nd Year University
- Minimum average of 65% for your 2021 year end exam and 65% in 2021 mid year exam
- Intention to study the fields mentioned above
- Applicants must be under 23 in the year of their application
- South African citizenship

Allan Gray Scholarship Application Deadline
- The deadline for submission of applications for Grade 12 applicants is on 30th April 2021.
