You might find it hard to come to terms with the fact that at some point, you would need to quit your job. It’s very difficult saying “Goodbye” to a job you’ve become so fond of. However, when it’s necessary to further delay could have its consequences.
But in order to set you on the right track and help you decide whether you should resign or not, these five (5) undeniable signs will guide you towards making that decision.
When The Job Becomes Toxic
This is a huge red flag when it comes to work and in this situation, you should definitely quit that job.
When a job becomes so toxic in the sense that there’s so much negative energy with the execution of the job. This leads to ineffectiveness and poor result, as well as negativity with other members of staff.
If everyone and everything at work seem so negative, visit a therapist to be sure the problem isn’t you. Once that is confirmed, it’s best to leave that job.
Why? You can’t have positive results in a negative environment.
When You’re Not Valued By Your Employer
Every worker at any level should feel some sort of relevance by their employer or organization.
Therefore, if your results are not being acknowledged and/or you are constantly criticized without any constructiveness. Dear friend I hate to break this to you but you are not valued.
Obviously, when your employer does not regard you in any way, you’ll have a hard time getting a promotion or moving up that career ladder. Then, you know it’s time to stop trying too much and quit your job
When It’s Affecting Your Mental Health
Mental Health today is of utmost priority especially as it relates to the workplace.
According to the World Health Organisation (W.H.O.), risks to mental health at the workplace include; poor communication and management practices, low control over one’s area of work, inflexible working hours, low levels of support for employees, among others. all of which are major factors affecting mental health at work.
So, if your work issues fall under any of the above categories, there’s a high chance that you are already having mental health issues.
Having a job and being employed should not be a burden and if you already feel that way about your job, it’s time to take a bow.
When You’re Happy About The Thought
Believe it or not, when you think about resignation and you get excited or relieved, that job is not for you.
It just means you’d be happier and more productive if you quit and got a job that makes you excited to go to work every day (well except weekends).
When You’re Searching For Answers Like This
This is my favorite sign of them all! LOL! If you took out your phone, your PC, or whatever gadget you use and typed “Signs I need to quit my job”, you need to quit that job.
Honestly, people don’t normally search for signs to quit their job if they’re happy about it. So you are probably not satisfied with your output at that job you’re working at.
Do an in-depth reflection and ask yourself these questions, “Am I happy with this Job?”, “Does it affect my Mental Health or my relationship with others in any negative way?”, “Am I Valued at this Job?”
If your answers to most of these questions are in the negative, then you should consider quitting.
Many people find themselves in terrible work conditions. Work isn’t always smooth that’s why it’s called work. However, work is not supposed to be burdensome and if you’re in such a work situation, I hope you find the courage to quit, at least for your sanity.
